Fr. Michael-Joseph of St Thérèse OCD is a Discalced Carmelite Friar of the Washington Province of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and resides at the Holy Hill monastery in Wisconsin. He was born in 1982 and grew up in Columbia MD. He entered seminary in 2003. After studying philosophy at St John’s University in NY and theology at Mount St Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg MD, he was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Washington DC in 2011. He served for four years as a Parochial Vicar in Rockville, MD and one year as an Assistant University Chaplain. In 2016 he entered initial formation with the Discalced Carmelites and made his first profession of vows in 2018. He studied Carmelite spirituality in Ávila, Spain and then Madrid, obtaining an STL in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical University of Comillas in 2022. He made his final profession of vows in February of 2023.
Fr. Michael-Joseph has contributed to various online and print media, and is a host of the ICS Publications podcast, Carmelcast as well as Ascension Press’ podcast, Catholic Classics. He serves as Postulant Director and subprior of the Holy Hill Community.
The retreat will follow a schedule and format similar to past retreats with retreatants arriving on Monday afternoon prior to the evening meal and departing on Thursday after the noon meal.

The retreat center will handle all reservations and special dietary and room requests for active priests.
